Birding Basics with Lauren Pharr

The Island Wildlife Chapter hosts ornithologist and science communicator Lauren Pharr for a presentation on birding basics.
This event is free and open to the public. All those who register using this form prior to the event will receive a recording.
Lauren Pharr is an ornithologist and a PhD student at North Carolina State University with a focus on Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology. Her current research centers around the federally-listed endangered red-cockaded woodpecker. She is an engaged science communicator and has presented to multiple societies including Georgia Audubon and the Hog Island Audubon, and has written and contributed pieces to a variety of outlets including The Cincinnati Zoo, National Geographic, BBC Wildlife, and eBird. Lauren is the Associate Editor of the NC Sea Grant for Coastwatch, and a recipient of many awards, including a scholarship grant by the North Carolina Wildlife Federation and funding from the Alongside Wildlife Foundation.
