Deer, Turkeys, and Beyond: Management to Benefit Wildlife On Your Property (Mebane)
June 20, 2026 @ 8:30 am - 4:00 pm
Join staff from NC Wildlife Resources Commission, NC Wildlife Federation, NC State University, and other partners for a hands-on workshop focused on practical wildlife habitat management for private landowners. The workshop will be held in Alamance County.
Participants will learn about wildlife habitat requirements and how to align management practices with landowner objectives, with a strong focus on deer and turkey. Get an opportunity to see and discuss implementing management techniques such as planting native plant species, managing volunteer vegetation, disking, selective herbicide applications, turkey nesting and brooding cover, and hedgerow management.
The workshop will also cover establishing and maintaining food plots for deer and turkey, available cost-share opportunities, forest management strategies including thinning and prescribed fire, and methods to enhance forest understory vegetation. Attendees will gain practical, field-based knowledge while networking with fellow landowners and natural resource professionals.
