Nature Walk at Mitchell Mill State Park Natural Area

September 28, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join the Neuse River Hawks for a walk and plant exploration at Mitchell Mill State Natural Area. The Mitchell Mill State Natural Area is home to rare, threatened and endangered flora and fauna, such as Narrow-leaf Blue Curl (Trichostema setaceum), Elf Orpine (Diamorpha smallii) and the Neuse River Water Dog (Necturus lewisi). It is also located atop one of the largest granite domes on the east coast: the Rolesville Batholith. Come explore this unique natural area and learn about native plants big and small in the company of other nature enthusiasts.

Please dress for the weather, bring a hat or sunscreen (many areas are not shaded) and wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes appropriate for trekking in the woods. Long pants and a walking stick are recommended, but not required. There are no bathrooms on the property.

Mitchell Mill SNA is located between Rt. 96, Mitchell Mill Rd., and Pulley Town Rd., between Rolesville and Zebulon. From Rt. 96, turn right onto Mitchell Mill Rd. just past the little store. Continue on to the intersection with Pulley Town Rd. There will be a parking area to the left, where we will meet at 10.
