May 21 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

pilot knob

Join NCWF and Ranger Maggie Miller at Pilot Mountain State Park for a walk on the Pilot Knob Trail (0.8 miles, moderate). The Pilot Knob Trail will lead us around the big pinnacle, a well-known feature of the North Carolina piedmont. We will learn about the cultural and geological history of the mountain and the native wildlife that occupies that land. To conclude, we will take a short walk to the Little Pinnacle Overlook to see the big pinnacle from a magnificent and new perspective.

Ranger Maggie is the Interpretation and Education Ranger at Pilot Mountain State Park. Prior to becoming a North Carolina State Park Ranger in 2017, she attended Eckerd College in Saint Petersburg, FL. She graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Environmental Studies. Her passion lies in protecting public lands, the wildlife that calls them home and providing education to visitors.

This event is part of NCWF’s Walks on the Wild Side series that creates opportunities for the public to learn about and connect with the natural wonders of North Carolina.
