Virtual Tour of the Suther Prairie Preserve

September 21, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Join the Concord Wildlife Alliance chapter of NCWF for a virtual tour of the Suther Prairie Preserve with chapter member Dennis Testerman. Hundreds of species have been catalogued on this 9-acre preserve that has been in the Suther family for generations. The ecotypes of dozens of species are available commercially for conservation projects, including Suther Indiangrass and Suther big (and little) bluestem. The “meadow” (as the Suther family calls the site) is a sea of color with Atamasco lilies and Indian paintbrush in full bloom in spring. New species continue to be identified, including Carex pellita, a newly recorded species in the state, which was discovered in 2019.

Dennis Testerman is a conservationist and minister who has an undergraduate forestry degree in environmental conservation and a graduate divinity degree in environmental ministry. Dennis has served as a conservationist, educator and minister in Nigeria, Pakistan and North Carolina.
