Willow Pond Exploration at the NC Arboretum

A dragonfly, frog and pond insect sit on a glass dish

Join us on a guided discovery of The North Carolina Arboretum’s Willow Pond. We’ll learn more about the insects, amphibians and other critters that call this pond home while counting and photographing who we find. Photo observations will be added to the iNaturalist online biodiversity network and help scientists learn about these species. All ages welcome.

Tour Guide: Jonathan Marchal is the Director of Education at The North Carolina Arboretum. He is a lifelong lover of salamanders and other pond creatures and was recently selected as Environmental Educator of the Year by the North Carolina Wildlife Federation. Jonathan is an avid naturalist and advocate of citizen and community science who believes that everyone has a role to play in conservation and ecological research. He is the creator of the ecoEXPLORE initiative which is currently available to all 5- to 12-year-old children in North Carolina.
