Invasive Plant Removal Workshop (Charlotte)

September 30, 2025 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation are working together to provide training for residents who are concerned about the invasive plants that are overrunning our parks, greenways and neighborhoods – and want to do something about it! Participants will receive basic training in plant identification. Information about the upcoming Neighborhood/Tree Care Grant application process will also be provided.

Who should attend? County/City residents who want to help control invasive plants that are crowding out native vegetation.

GOALS:

Recognize common invasive plant species found in the Mecklenburg County area.
Acquire knowledge of plant removal techniques (herbicide-free on Park & Recreation properties) and proper disposal methods.
Connect with Park & Recreation’s Volunteer Services to become a registered/approved long-term Volunteer/Project Captain.
Receive information about City of Charlotte programs that may provide additional support for invasive plant removal.

LOCATION: Dorothy Doores Waddy Pavilion (at Clanton Park) – 3132 Manchester Drive, Charlotte, 28208
