Invasive Plant Removal (Marvin)

December 28, 2024 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Invasive plants are non-native introduced plants that do not support native wildlife. They are very aggressive, outcompete wildlife-friendly plants, and take over natural areas. Nandina, Privet, Monkey Grass, and Autumn/Russian olive are common invasive plants that have escaped residential landscapes and are taking over natural areas. To make matters worse, these plants are still available for sale in big box stores.

Join NCWF Habitat Builders Chapter to remove invasive plants from greenspaces. It’s the first step to building habitat. When you join us for a removal event you will learn to recognize some of our common invasive species, how to remove them from the landscape, and why this work is so important. We will provide tools, but feel free to bring pruners, shovels, or a mattock. Be prepared for cool weather and mud, you will get dirty. We will provide some gloves, but it’s always better to bring your own gardening gloves or leather gloves (or both). Our events last 2 hours, but feel free to drop in and out as needed. Every plant removed makes a difference.
