Join NCWF Charlotte Wildlife Stewards Chapter and Dr. Steve Fields, Museum of York County, for all things mammals! Like many groups in the Piedmont, the mammals have been poorly represented in the literature. Some books and regional field guides provide marginal information, but no previous effort was made to officially document species occurrence in the upper South Carolina Piedmont. This presentation summarizes the first published account of mammal species richness for the region, the result of 12 years of research. A variety of methods, including original field research, led to the documentation of 43 species of mammals within six counties of north-central South Carolina.
