Sandbar Lecture – Wings of Wonder – Bird Biodiversity by Southeastern Swamp Stewards
June 25, 2024 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Step outside and listen closely. Do you hear the symphony of birds? Have you ever wondered about these feathered friends? One local artist did, and it inspired her to paint every bird in her county! The Southeastern Swamp is teeming with amazing creatures nestled in its coastal wetlands, and attendees will see stunning, life-sized paintings of birds that frequent the swamp.
Learn about birds’ habitats, the swamp’s important role as a rest stop for birds on their long journeys, and the importance of protecting birds and their swamp habitat. Spread your wings and become champions for incredible feathered travelers! Join Artist Bess Taylor and Scientist and Educator Lisa Yemma, two founding members of the Southeastern Swamp Stewards, a local chapter of the North Carolina Wildlife Federation, for a captivating evening that combines art, nature, education, and adventure.
