Merchants Millpond State Park Trail Restoration Project, Part II (Gatesville)
October 19, 2024 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Volunteers of all ages are invited to join NCWF Wildlife Habitat Stewards of NE NC Chapter in restoring the Coleman Trailhead at Merchants Millpond State Park with beneficial native grasses! On September 20th, volunteers cleared an estimated 660 lbs of invasive Japanese stiltgrass from the site. During this part of the project, we will be restoring this area with beneficial native grasses that will offer essential food sources and habitat for wildlife .
This event is a component of the chapter’s watershed stewardship initiatives, supported by an APNEP Engagement and Stewardship Grant.
Parking and restrooms are available on site. Please wear closed-toed shoes and bring gloves, insect repellant, sunscreen, plenty of water, and anything else to make your experience more enjoyable. Extra gloves and tools will be provided!
