Hiking for Habitat: Day 24, April 15

April 15 (26 miles)

26 miles today from Rolling View Recreation Area to Penny’s Bend. Sipped coffee on a beach, watching the sun come up. Made it to the Eno River today! Fascinating to see the transition from Falls Lake to the Eno River. My good friend Ellie met me halfway into the hike with snacks. Never a dull moment with her. My mood was boosted immediately. Mike and Kathy Huff picked me up later in the evening. They were our neighbors and essentially my second parents when I lived in Durham. A little weird at first going back to the old neighborhood where I grew up, but that quickly faded, and it felt like home again.
