Join the North Carolina Wildlife Federation, Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy, and Wildbud Natives for a wetland planting workday at Bowditch Bottoms in Yancey County. Bowditch Bottoms is a 87-acre property that contains important soils, farmland, undeveloped forested and non-forested habitat for wildlife, headwaters to the South Toe River, and intact wetland and riparian corridors. It is visible from the Mount Mitchell Scenic Byway and several higher-elevation vantage points in the Black Mountains and the Highlands of the Roan.

NCWF, SAHC, conservation professionals alongside volunteers have worked together at Bowditch Bottoms to restore habitat, increase biodiversity, and serve as a model for active stewardship. Together on the property through multiple workdays we have removed Helene debris, controlled non-native invasive plant species, hosted a hands-on forestry workshop with EcoForesters, planted over a thousand livestakes, and engaged the local community with a grassroots conservation project.
