Brumley Rewilding Oasis Restoration (Chapel Hill)
August 28, 2026 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am
TriWild is TLC’s Rewilding Program. Native species and habitats in Brumley Nature Preserve have been pushed out by invasive species like privet, multiflora rose, and autumn olive. TriWIld gives volunteers an opportunity to help TLC staff to help remove invasives, which is the first step towards the flourishing of native flora and fauna.
Most of the biggest invasives have been removed (especially privet). So we have set up Rewilding Oases and filled them with native plants. Now we need to help them survive in an extended drought. Your primary tasks will be to water plants. If you have a watering can, please bring it. We will have water there, but if you have containers you can bring some water in, as well, that’d be great!
Enter through the Schoolhouse of Wonder Entrance. This is a gate that is just south of Old NC 10 on New Hope Church Road. Coming from the south, pass the main entrance and look for the second gate on the right. Coming from the north, turn on to New Hope Church Rd and look for the first gate on the left.
Turn left at the first opportunity and park in the cul-de-sac. We need to park back there because Schoolhouse of Wonder kids are being dropped off between 8 and 9. Then walk to oasis #1 (right behind the other cul-de-sac.
We’ve got all the tools you’ll need, as well as protective eyewear and gloves – but you are welcome to bring your own.
Please wear long pants, long-sleeved shirt, closed-toed shoes. Don’t forget a bottle (or two or three) of water!
If you have any issues finding the location or need to cancel at the last moment, call or text Steven at 773.426.9093.
