ecoEXPLORE Plant Scavenger Hunt (Columbia)
March 3, 2026 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm
Spring is right around the corner and we’re already seeing fresh pops of green across the landscape in Tyrrell County! Let’s come together to kick off the Botany Field Season with a plant scavenger hunt along the Scuppernong River Interpretive Boardwalk. Participants will work together to check off all of the plant species on their list and get to learn more about the vegetation around them and what wildlife species benefit from the different plants we’re observing. This is a great opportunity to receive bonus points on photo observations as well since Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge serves as an ecoEXPLORE HotSpot!
ecoEXPLORE is a community science program, created by the North Carolina Arboretum, where children of all ages are able to learn how to identify wildlife around them, help real scientists track wildlife activity, and earn fun badges and prizes all at the same time! Organizer: Tyrell County Public Library, Pocosin Lakes NWR
