Morrow Mountain Winter Hikes (Albemarle)
January 31, 2026 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join our newly forming NCWF Uwharrie Wildlife Stewards Chapter at Morrow Mountain State Park for a real adventure! Morrow Mountain is a special sanctuary for people and wildlife alike. We will attend a guided hike of the historical Quarry Trail which is less than one mile in length. Park staff will discuss a number of subjects including: the unique geology of the Uwharries, CCC construction at the park, and we will visit a known vernal pool wetland.
For those craving more of a challenge, stick around for the optional hike on Hattaway Mountain Trail. This three and one half mile round trip trail features moderate to strenuous terrain and extensive views of Stanly and Montgomery Counties.
Quarry Trail is a FAMILY-FRIENDLY hike and ideal for young children. Hattaway Mountain is a longer hike and more strenuous difficulty. Recommended for ages 13 and up. Folks under 18 must always be accompanied by an adult. Total trail distance combined is approximately 4 miles.
