Did you know that there are an estimated 160,000 different species of moths?! That’s almost ten times as many moth species as there are for butterflies! Most moths only come out at night, so you may not have seen most of them before. But moths don’t just fly at night. There are actually more brightly colored day-flying moths than there are butterflies!

However, the best moth-viewing is at night, and NCWF South Wake Conservationists Chapter are proud to present our popular Moth Night led by Bonnie Eamick! All ages will enjoy the amazing variety of shapes and sizes we will see in just one evening.

We will set up a large sheet with a UV light to attract a variety of moths that will land on the sheet for everyone to observe and draw, and we can use the iNaturalist Seek app (Android or iOS) to try to identify some of them and submit photos as citizen scientists. We hope to see you there!
