Join NCWF Lake Norman Wildlife Chapter to plant native trees in Cornelius as part of North Carolina Wildlife Federation’s Clean and Green program. Back in April, NCWF Lake Norman Wildlife Chapter and the Town of Cornelius hosted its annual Clean & Green trash cleanup event. Town staff and volunteers from the Society of Women Engineers, Safe Harbor – Kings Point Marina, and Lake Norman Wildlife took to the land and the lake to remove hundreds of pounds of trash and debris.

North Carolina Wildlife Federation is committed to planting one native tree for every 25 pounds of trash collected statewide. Removing litter protects wildlife from possible entanglement, strangulation, and ingestion while improving water quality and removing toxins from the environment.

This year we will plant native trees at Bailey Road Park. Trees are the foundation of our terrestrial food webs, and they provide critical nesting habitat for owls, hawks, songbirds, and other wildlife. Please join us at Bailey Road Park for a morning of community and conservation. Stick around for pizza, refreshments, and a group photo at the end.

Volunteers will work to prepare the existing holes before planting and mulching up to 80 native trees.

Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
