Pollinator Garden Crawl – Great Southeast Pollinator Census (Charlotte)

August 22, 2026 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Join NCWF Charlotte Wildlife Stewards chapter, the City of Charlotte, and Mecklenburg County Extension Master gardeners to participate in a pollinator garden crawl as part of the Great Southeast Pollinator Census. Complete pollinator counts at a minimum of two gardens along the crawl and EARN A FREE BEER at Birdsong Brewery! Gardens participating in the crawl are located at:

Veterans Park

Reid Park

Tuckaseegee Arboretum and Gardens

Participation is easy: Stop by any/all of the gardens listed above. Check in with a volunteer and grab your counting sheet. Spend 15 minutes tallying the number of insect pollinators you see land on one type of flowering plant. Check out this how to video for more information. We will have trained volunteers at each garden to answer questions, help you with insect identification, and get you started. Turn in your data sheet at each garden to earn a sticker. Collect two or more stickers to earn a free beer!

Head to Birdsong Brewery after the count, show your stickers, and receive a beer ticket! It’s that easy! No prior experience is needed to participate. We will provide everything you need, and afterwards, you can participate in the Census at home. The Great Southeast Pollinator Census occurs all day on August 21st and August 22nd!

The goals of the Census are threefold: to create sustainable pollinator habitat, to increase the entomological literacy of our community, and to generate useful data about our pollinator populations. This is a family-friendly event!
