Join NCWF Concord Wildlife Alliance for a presentation on wildlife crossings and the science behind making roads safer for both people and wildlife. Drawing on her research of the U.S. Highway 64 wildlife underpasses in eastern North Carolina, speaker Abby Weinshenker will discuss how underpasses and exclusion fencing help reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions while maintaining habitat connectivity for species such as black bears, white-tailed deer, bobcats, and other native wildlife. She will share findings from long-term monitoring of underpass use and explain how different species use these structures to safely cross busy roadways.
