Save Our Sounds: Standing Up for NC’s Marine Habitats, Fish Populations, and Public Recreation (Chapel Hill and Online))
November 16, 2026 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Did you know North Carolina’s sounds are the second largest in the U.S. and serve as a vital nursery for sea life which populates the entire eastern seaboard? Unfortunately, North Carolina marine fisheries management has allowed fishing practices that for decades have failed to protect our fish populations (especially juveniles), other sea life, and our sea floor.
Join NCWF Tri-County Conservationists Chapter and Ann Berry Somers for an eye-opening talk on why our shallow sounds are in deep trouble and learn about the Save Our Sounds campaign. Discover what’s at stake for our ecosystems, anglers, and the economies of our coastal communities—and learn how we can demand better stewardship together.
