Unearth A Story: Burrowing Insects (Elizabeth City)
July 31, 2026 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am
Join Skadi Kylander with NCWF Wildlife Habitat Stewards of Northeastern NC Chapter for a lively, hands-on program about burrowing insects at Pasquotank County Library. The session begins with a presentation introducing insects and other “bugs” then digs deeper into the fascinating species that tunnel underground and the unique conditions they encounter beneath the surface. After discovering how these tiny engineers live and thrive, the fun continues with a creative activity where each child will make their own moving “burrowing bug.” Participants will also have the chance to observe live isopods and examine preserved insects, adding an exciting real-world element to the experience.
Designed for children 11 and under with an accompanying adult, this relaxed, interactive program invites young naturalists to uncover the hidden stories unfolding just below their feet.
