
Wintering Waterfowl Tour (Pantego)

Join Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge for a guided tour of the Pungo Unit to observe migratory waterfowl and other wildlife. The tour will provide details about the role Pungo plays in providing a waterfowl sanctuary and include information on Tundra Swan and other migrating waterfowl! This is a caravan tour with participants driving their own vehicle following behind the tour leader.
Vehicles are subject to road conditions on the Pungo Unit. It is recommended to arrive with a full tank of gas and to be driving in a 4WD capable vehicle to avoid getting stuck on the refuge. Roads on the refuge have a weight limit of 8,000lbs. The tour will begin at the Pungo Unit Kiosk located near 600 Refuge Rd Pantego, NC at the corner of Pat’s Rd and Refuge Rd. There is a sign at the kiosk stating “Refuge Tour Meets Here.” Tours last approximately 1.5 hours.
