Hiking for Habitat, Day 14

April 5 (21 miles)

Twenty-one miles today from Burgaw to Moores Creek Battlefield. My dad dropped me off at the Walmart in Burgaw so I wouldn’t have to worry about a shuttle across the Cape Fear River. Today I walked through downtown Burgaw before settling into long stretches of rural backroads. Storms were brewing. I ended the day at Moores Creek National Battlefield. To my luck, I found a sheltered patch of dirt for my tent. I ate dinner in my tent, talked on the phone for an hour, then listened to the storm before falling asleep.
