Hiking for Habitat: Day 22, April 13

April 13 (26 miles)

26 miles today from Buffalo athletic park to Blue Jay Point County Park. My body and clothing were sweaty and sticky when I crawled out of my tent this morning. The mosquitoes followed my every movement. Great day today, after applying some bug spray. Took plenty of breaks beside the river to eat snacks and go swimming. Falls Lake Dam would signal the end of the Neuse greenway and onto a new section. The MST went into the woods with views of Falls Lake throughout. Mary, an MST trail angel, picked me up after the hike and took me out for pizza. She welcomed me into her home, and again I was overwhelmed by the generosity of the MST community.
