Hiking for Habitat: Day 49, May 10

May 10 (28 miles)

28 miles from a camping spot near Pisgah Inn to a camping spot near Haywood Gap on the Blue Ridge Parkway. This morning, I stumbled into the Pisgah Inn gift shop and bought a muffin and coffee. It was cold enough this morning for a down jacket. I’m concerned my shoes won’t hold together till the end. The cold burned off, and a warm sunny day emerged. Plenty of stream crossings, including a large waterfall. Perfect for a face plunge to cool off. Up and down all day in remote forests. I found a camp spot underneath a large spruce tree late in the evening.
