Join NCWF South Wake Conservationists Chapter in partnership with Wake Audubon for an ongoing project to conserve and support the natural heritage of a unique nature park in Fuquay Varina. The NC Natural Heritage Progam lists portions of this site as 7 out of 10 for natural diversity, which is exceptional for a suburban/urban location!

Last year we made a great start on removing invasive plants from the park. Now when someone pulls in they can see the creek from their parking spot, instead of a wall of privet and bradford pears! Not to mention the numerous fern, strawberry bushes and a multitude of other native plants we’ve freed up to grow.

Volunteers will help cut or pull the invasives and haul them out by the parking lot. Fuquay Varina Public Works loads all this into large trailers and hauls it away as they are filled. Last time, we filled two trailers, and there is plenty more to go!
