Rooftop Pollinator Garden Workday (Raleigh)

July 3, 2026 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

Now that school is out, NCWF South Wake Conservationists Chapter is working to keep a wonderful rooftop garden at Southeast Raleigh Elementary in ship shape. Summer maintenance is key to ensure that the garden is ready to resume with the students in September.

The sixteen beds on the outer perimeter of the roof are fully dedicated to pollinators. Between the drought and the resiliance of invasive grasses, the pollinator plants have had a rough summer so far. We want to keep it well-maintained and watered (within Raleigh drought guidelines) to establish an increasingly mature pollinator ecosystem as part of our program. The students will pitch in again, when they return in the fall.

Can you help with weeding? It is fun (and quite safe) up on the roof. This program is very popular and meaningful to the students and administration at this school. Please bring your personal water bottle and a pair of gardening gloves, and we’ll supply the rest. Hope you can join us!
