Hiking for Habitat, Day 12

April 3 (21 miles)

Twenty-one miles today from Dixon High School to Surf City. Carolina blue skies all day long. The hike today went by quickly. I hiked through Stones Creek Game Land, a well-marked portion of the trail. After Stones Creek, I walked on the road until getting to Topsail Beach Park. I took a long break to soak up the perfect weather and enjoy a lunch of peanut butter wraps. Afterward, I put on my headphones and settled into a long beach walk from North Topsail to Surf City. This would be the last day I’d see the ocean along the MST. After arriving at Surf City, I found a spot on the water to watch the sun go down. Great day.
