Buttonbush Planting at Lake Norman (Mooresville)

November 4, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Join the Lake Norman Wildlife Conservationists and NCWF for a fun afternoon of planting buttonbushes in the island habitats of Lake Norman!

These islands provide critical shelter and food for all kinds of creatures including deer, fish, birds, and pollinators. Buttonbushes reduce erosion and stabilize island shorelines, while increasing habitat and forage for local wildlife. Volunteers are needed to help plant 300 button bushes across three islands in the lake. Jobs will include digging holes, staging plants, and putting plants in the ground.

We will meet at an access point and take a short boat ride to the islands. Volunteers will be required to get on and off boats on uneven ground. Bathrooms are available on the mainland, but on the water or the islands. Please bring water and work gloves, and come dressed in layers. Waterproof boots that can get muddy are strongly recommended.

Click below to register and receive the full details and meeting site. All boats and tools will be provided, along with pizza and drinks for all volunteers at the end.
