Buttonbush Planting (Mooresville)

March 9, 2024 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Join Lake Norman Wildlife Conservationists and NCWF for another fun afternoon planting buttonbushes on island habitats in Lake Norman. The islands of Lake Norman provide critical refuge for all kinds of wildlife including deer, fish, birds, and pollinators. Buttonbushes reduce erosion and stabilize these island shorelines while increasing habitat and forage for local wildlife.

Volunteers are needed to help plant the 150 buttonbushes remaining from our November work day. Jobs include digging holes, staging plants, and putting plants in the ground. We will meet at Hager Creek Access Area where the island to be planted is just a short boat ride away. All boats and tools are provided. Please bring water, gloves and come dressed in layers. Knee high waterproof boots or waders are strongly recommended. Pizza and drinks will be provided to all volunteers at the end.
