NC Division of Marine Fisheries Fiscal Analysis of NCWF Petition is Fatally Flawed and Biased

Two years ago, NC Wildlife Federation filed a petition for rule making with the NC Marine Fisheries Commission to protect aquatic juvenile nursery habitat and reduce by-catch from large scale shrimp trawling in North Carolina sounds.

On January 14, 2019, the divisiAlbemarle Soundon of marine fisheries finally released their fiscal analysis of our petition. Their analysis is at best a flawed and biased document. It underscores why our marine fisheries are in such poor shape.

On Tuesday, February 19, 2019 we responded to their fiscal analysis, addressing both legal and technical inconsistencies. Read our email to NC Marine Fisheries Commission Chair, Rob Bizzell, the marine commission, and Department of Environmental Quality here.
