Hiking for Habitat: Day 19, April 10

19 miles today from Vann Crossroads Fire Dept. to Howell Woods Environmental Learning Center at Johnston Community College. Met a lot of friendly people enjoying their Sunday, including a fellow crazy person, an ultramarathoner named Carlos. I hiked through the historic Battle of Bentonville site, which occurred on March 19-21, 1865. The battle was one of the last of the Civil War and the largest ever fought in North Carolina. I found a great camping spot way back in the trees behind the Howell Woods building.
