Arthropods: Home Invaders and Housemates

October 19, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join NCWF for a talk with Dr. Matt Bertone from the N.C. State Disease and Insect Clinic to learn about the most common arthropods often found in homes. We will investigate whether or not to be concerned about these insect housemates and what to do about them. Dr. Matt Bertone is an arthropod systematist and diagnostician with over 20 years of experience in the field. He received his Masters of Science and PhD from North Carolina State University and is currently the director and entomologist at the NC State Plant Disease and Insect Clinic where he identifies over 1,000 arthropod samples each year. Matt has over 40 peer-reviewed, scientific publications on subjects ranging from basic to applied research. He is heavily involved in extension, and gives numerous talks, guest lectures, and other extension/outreach trainings to various groups regarding arthropod diversity, biology and identification (often with a focus on pest species). Matt is also heavily involved with the National Plant Diagnostic Network and is an avid macro photographer.
