From Wasteland to Wonder – Easy Ways We Can Help Heal Earth in the Sub/Urban Landscape (Online)

March 19, 2024 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Join the Tri-County Conservationists Chapter of NCWF as they welcome Basil Camu who serves as the Chief Vision Officer & Wizard of Things at Leaf & Limb where they preserve, plant, and promote trees in a manner that attempts to maximize positive benefits for members of all ecosystems. During the presentation, Basil will examine how the systems of photosynthesis and soil formation work and how they affect water, carbon, and all other life on land. Basil will discuss new paradigms and practices we can implement that help heal Earth. We’ll begin with the easiest concepts that we can implement quickly on our properties, like planting saplings and saving mature trees. Then we’ll move to some more challenging, more impactful approaches, like planting pocket forests and replacing our lawns with native meadows. Basil’s presentation aims to address three points:

The way we currently manage the suburban and urban (sub/urban) landscape is creating a wasteland and harming the well-being of Earth.
The landscape paradigms and practices that Basil proposes do the opposite—they help heal Earth.
When we work to help heal Earth, we save time and money because we are working with natural systems instead of against them.
Whether we plant one tree or inspire our entire community to do the same, every step is one in the right direction.
