Hiking for Habitat: Day 33, April 24

April 24 (24 miles)

24 miles from Rockford General Store to Carter Falls Trailhead. Paul from the general store filled up my water bottles and wished me luck. Mostly road walking today in the heat. Lots of dogs. I’ve learned they won’t mess with me so long as I have my trekking poles. There was some trail mixed in today too, including a brief walk through a vineyard. Following the railroad tracks, I made it to Elkin where I stopped for a late lunch. I ended the day about 7 miles beyond Elkin but Bob picked me up and took me back to Elkin. Bob and Suzanne were such gracious hosts. We ate dinner at Angry Troll brewpub on Main Street. Living a hiker’s dream.
