Hiking for Habitat: Day 31, April 22

April 22 (24 miles)

24 miles today from Hanging Rock to Pilot Mountain State Park. Started the day with a hike up to the summit of Moores Knob. Fantastic views on top of the summit fire tower. Lots of variety today including rocky peaks, narrow trails, country roads, construction sites, grassy fields, streams and plenty of wildlife to keep me company when I didn’t have my headphones in. Made it to Pilot Mountain at last. An odd-looking mountain for sure. Fully booked campsite, but the host let me pitch my tent behind his camper at no charge. Rice and beans, cold shower and off to bed.
